Today I learned…

ER verbs

  • o
  • es
  • e
  • emos
  • en

Aprender (to learn)

  • yo aprendo = I learn
  • tu aprendes = you learn
  • el aprende = he learns
  • nosotros aprendemos = we learn
  • ellos aprenden = they learn

Comer (to eat)

  • yo como = I eat
  • tu comes = you eat
  • el come = he eats
  • nosotros comemos = we eat
  • ellos comen = they eat

Beber (to drink)

  • yo bebo = I drink
  • tu bebes = you drink
  • el bebe = he drinks
  • nosotros bebemos = we drink
  • ellos beben = they drink

 

IR verbs

  • o

Vivir (to live)

  • yo vivo = I live
  • tu vives = you live
  • el vive = he lives
  • nosotros vivimos = we live
  • ellos viven = they live

Escribir (to write)

  • yo escribo = I write
  • tu escribes = you write
  • el escribe = he writes
  • nosotros escribimos = we write
  • ellos escriben = they write

Recibir (to receive)

  • yo recibo = I receive
  • tu recibes = you receive
  • el recibe = he receives
  • nosotros recibimos = we receive
  • ellos reciben = they receive

 

E –> IE Verbs

Certain verbs are slightly irregular in that ‘e’ is modified to ‘ie’ within the verb stem, modifying the pronunciation. Examples are given below:

Pensar (to think)

  • yo pienso = I think
  • tu piensas = you think
  • el piensa = he thinks
  • nosotros pensamos = we think
  • ellos piensan = they think

 

Querer (to want)

  • yo quiero = I want
  • to quieres = you want
  • el quiere = he wants
  • nosotros queremos = we want
  • ellos quieren = they want

 

Preferir (to prefer)

  • yo prefiero = I prefer
  • tu prefieres = you prefer
  • el prefieres = he prefers
  • nosotros preferimos = we prefer
  • ellos prefieren = they prefer

 

O –> UE Verbs

Almorzar (to eat lunch)

  • yo almuerzo = I eat lunch
  • tu almuerzas = you eat lunch
  • el almuerza = he eats lunch
  • nosotros almorzamos = we eat lunch
  • elles almuerzan = they eat lunch

 

Poder (to be able, can)

  • yo puedo = I can
  • tu puedes = you can
  • el puede = he can
  • nosotros podemos = we can
  • elles pueden = they can

 

Dormir (to sleep)

  • yo duermo = I sleep
  • tu duermes = you sleep
  • el duerme = he sleeps
  • nosotros dormimos = we sleep
  • elles duermen = they sleep

 

Use of Todo(s)

Meals and drinks use todo. For objects and people use todos.

 

Random Vocab

  • Solamente = only
  • Sólo = alone
  • Hermanitos = younger siblings
  • Ambos = both
  • Overactive = superactivos
  • Cucaracha = cockroach
  • Pata = leg
  • Lata = tin can
  • El despertador = alarm clock
  • Sonar = to sound (alarm, etc)
  • Redondo = round
  • Mediodia = noon
  • Centavos = cents
  • Puntos = points
  • Me gustaria / quisiera = I would like
